So, when I say 'backyard' I mean 'backyard'. If you squint, you can probably see the coast line behind the chair in this picture to the right; that is Turkey! Also, this gorgeous beach, water, and chair are also in my backyard. Our hotel, The Mediterranean, is right on the beach here in Rhodes. Tonight Andrew, Khadijah, Zach and I began explore our new little city and found a cute little playground, some restaurants to try out, cafes, and we explored the ocean. A lot of the beach is rocks just like home in Washington, but they're all smooth and perfect for skipping. The four of us spent about 15 mins trying to touch the water without getting shoes wet. We succeeded after many tries...well some of us at least. While at the playground, we played on the swings, Khadijah on the baby one of course. Zach took a little spill and scraped his back, but if we're going to act like little kids, someone has to get hurt, right? Then Khadijah and I played on the teetertotter, which I had never done before. The country has definitely been home to a lot of firsts for me. It's so interesting to think about how far away from home I am; basically across the whole world. I'm still in Greece, but a boat ride away is Turkey. Even on a cloudy night like tonight I can still see the coast! We can find beauty everywhere we go. Just strolling down the beach we came up on this chair. The legs were half buried in the sand and we have no idea how it got there. In an aesthetic way it was beautiful. I just looked like such a nice place to sit and think about anything and

everything. I wonder why it is there and how it got there though or if it is used. The water was so warm even after the sun went down and I am so excited to jump in tomorrow! The water is as blue as my picture, I didn't even have to edit it. I can't believe that this paradise is my new backyard. It will be so fun to explore and learn like I learned the streets of Athens.
