It's impossible not to have a great time in this country.
Sure, it's not tourist season, so half the shops aren't open. And a lot of the time the weather is freezing, while we're dreaming about the ten months a year where its 70+ degrees and sunny.
But its really hard to find fault in what's been happening over the last 16 days.
Today, for example, we went to the Acropolis in Rhodes. I didn't know until arriving in Greece that there was more than one Acropolis, so fun little fact there. When we arrived, Dr. Finitsis announced that we would be required to either compete in a sport event at the stadium or do some kind of performance at the theater nearby. I opted for the performance, thinking I could pull out one of the soliloquies I memorized in high school or junior high.
The athletics were really fun. The group not running sat in the stands and cheered our friends on. They had to run the length of the stadium and back, which actually was quite a long distance. We then crowned the winners with laurel wreaths that one of the local men standing by watching made for us. Then, a group of us went onto the stage and sang and danced to I'm Yours and Dynamite. It was super fun. I believe there will be videos posted later, so you should check those out :)
We finished the day with a four course dinner at the hotel, and then a friend and I went out for a short walk. Just hearing the sound of the ocean is so relaxing. I'm sure if you're reading the blog you've seen pictures from our balconies, but the ocean is literally right in front of us. You can walk outside and smell water and hear the sound of the waves hitting the coast.
This is definitely the good life.
