Since September, my mindset has been very focused on school and in that mindset, I am ridiculously excited to go to bed before 12 and have less than 3 hours of homework to do. Then I got here, and I remembered what it really means to be excited.
Today, we met for class in the morning and then walked to the ancient agora of Rhodes. We explored the city as we walked the 45 minutes to get there and then once we finally arrived, we were greeted with a surprise... All of us had to either participate in some form of Greek athletics on the athletic field or in some form of the arts in the amphitheater. I, being a very artistic person, chose to perform with the group in the amphitheater. I thought about standing there and belting out one of my favorite country songs, but I joined the group instead, singing a combination of "I'm Yours" and "Dynamite."

After we all had performed, our professor taught us all how to dance - Greek style! And it was so much fun! I think we had all been dying to learn since we got here and now we finally have.
Then, we wandered up some more into the ruins and found a lovely wall to sit on with a great view of the city, a 'snail graveyard,' and some fantastic photos. After a while, we wandered further still, only to find a cliff that looked out over the water and half the island. I stood at the edge of the cliff and looked out and then turned around to see the other side of the island, its beaches, and Turkey! It was such a cool sight but it got even better when we stayed to watch the sunset.
When I leaned what the blog topic was for the day, I started thinking about the beauty I had seen today and the great things I had experienced in only just a few hours. I thought about my 'normal' life back home at school and there was no comparison with the life I get to lead here.
Becoming a part of this new culture, taking ahold of everything this country has to offer, and learning all along the way is one of the coolest things I have ever done. And I realized, I really am living the good life.
