A Touch of Spice: Not Just for Food

Today we watched the movie "A Touch of Spice," and one quote really stuck with me. Basically, it said that both food and life need salt to make them tastier. It really hit home, reminding me that I really do need to make sure to put some spice in my life. 30 years from now, I don't want to look back and have any regrets of things I didn't do, opportunities that I let slip through my fingers. I want my life to be exciting and interesting, every day a new adventure. Just being in Greece is salt for my life, a month I will never forget. But I don't want to just be here. I want to experience Greece and all it has to offer.

Each and every day here is a new opportunity to do something awesome. I am going to quickly recap everything I've done since landing in Athens a little over a week ago: Saturday we landed in the afternoon, settled into our apartments, went to the supermarket, got our first taste of Greek food, then took a three hour walk around the city. All of which occured on 24+ hours of no sleep. Sunday I slept in later than I like to admit, then ate one of the best dinners I've ever had. Monday was our first day of class, and more exploring of Athens. Tuesday was our trip to the top of Mt. Lycabettus. Wednesday was the Acropolis museum, Thursday Delphi. Friday was the trip to the salon, where I added some spice to my hair. Yesterday we went to Corfu and explored Athens at night. That is a lot of stuff to fit in to one week! I'm so grateful for this wonderful opportunity to add some spice to my life. It's going to be tough going home, having to re-adjust to my "normal" life. But being here and really getting a chance to live has made me determined to keep it up when I get back. Obviously I won't be able to take a trip to the Acropolis whenever I want, but I will find ways to keep my life interesting! I challenge everyone to do something in the next few days that adds a little spice to your life!
