This is Sparta

Today was quite an adventure filled with bus rides, a savage hike, good food, and the most adorable lady in the world.

We began with a 7am bus ride, fortunately it would be well worth it. When we finally arrived at Mistras the view was specular. I was surrounded by mountains that made the ancient town seem all the more beautiful.

We hiked our way up to the top, which was quite a trek due to the uneven rocks and steps. Dr. Finitsis’ mom came along as well. On the way up I carried her bag for her, as well as occasionally helping her along. When she had stopped to take a break and I handed over her water she said that she loved me, and then said this much (in Greek) while spreading out her arms. It was the cutest thing in the world.

When we reached the top, the view was spectacular. We were surrounded by picturesque mountains on top of the ruin-survived city of Mistras. My favorite picture is the hear no evil, see no evil, and speak no evil, with Alex playing the part of the devil.

We then headed off to Sparta for lunch, gelato, and pictures with a Spartan warrior. Today I felt like a Spartan warrior myself while climbing the rough terrain of Mistras. Upon reaching the top I felt as if I had conquered the city myself. It was quite a feat, especially since I did not fall once. Mrs. Finitsis is like a Spartan warrior herself, trekking up and down the city of Mistras, seems like we all had a little but of Spartan warrior in us today.
