Today was a really good day. After class, most of us ventured out to the farmers market near the
apartments. You could smell it before you got there, just the scent of fresh fruit and vegetables. We rounded the corner and there are stands of tons of fruit and vegetables, pears, apples, olives (of course), and even some that I didn't expect, like kiwis and giant cabbages. I bought apples, bananas, kiwis, and oranges. I wanted to buy everything just because it looked so pretty.
A group of us also went and "got our hair all did." It took us about an hour and a half after meeting to get to the actual salon, and then we spent three hours there. I had a slight freak out in the middle because I didn't tell the people dyeing my hair that I've dyed it before, so the first round turned my hair two different colors. It works out well that it did, because the color the man dyeing my hair was going for wasn't one that I would have liked. I thought it was going to be a reddish brown sort of burgundy color going on, but the result that I originally had that he wanted almost looked orange. So after dyeing my hair twice, getting a cut and a really cute style, I feel completely made over and super happy. I thought in the middle that I had "lost my head" when the hair turned out two different colors, and I think the hair stylists could tell I was worried even though they didn't speak English. But in the end, I'm super happy with the result, and so excited to have a cute hairdo for the rest of the Greece trip!
I'm realizing more and more how much the people are making the trip for me. I'm starting to get to know all the people in the group, and we're all so different and come from unique backgrounds. But we all work well together, and have a cohesiveness which is good. Tonight I went with three other girls to get Dominos (typical Americans, I know), and it was really good to just connect with them more and get to know those girls better. Overall, today was a really good day, I feel completely renewed and ready to tackle the Corfu trip tomorrow!
