Live Free, Die Hard

Well, it’s officially our last day in Rhodes and we’re back to Athens tomorrow. One of the many things I’ve learned on this trip is that I need to watch more movies. After getting some of our blog topics, or reading blogs written by others whenever a movie is referenced I realize that I have never seen it. Today’s topic was “Live Free, Die Hard” which I had to google to find out what that even meant and Wikipedia told me that it means something along the lines of living passionately for something and being willing to die for it.

Today we talked about the massacre of Masada and how the Jews decided that they would rather die than become slaves to the Romans. So…in the end they ended up killing themselves and their families, leaving the Romans “dumbfounded.”

I’d like to think that there are things that I believe in so passionately that I’d be willing to die for them, but honestly…I don’t know if I’d be brave enough to actually kill myself for them.
Throughout this trip we’ve looked at many cemeteries, just today we drove past 4 or 5 all right next to each other which makes me think, what was going on when these people died? Were they standing up for something they believed in?
