Kaitlyn the Greek

After more than two weeks in Greece, today I finally swam in the Aegean. And it was wonderful! But more on that in a minute. I started out my day with breakfast, and had one of the best pastry-type things I have ever had. The only way I can think to describe it is a funnel cake, only BETTER! I know right, how can anything be better than a funnel cake? But this was. Our theory is that it was coated in honey. SO GOOD! I also tried coffee. Like real coffee, not my normal foo-foo raspberry white chocolate mocha that barely tastes like coffee. And I really, really liked this real coffee. Yay for growing up! Then a few of us just walked around in the gorgeous weather looking for places to shop. But it seemed pretty deserted, hopefully more is open tomorrow when it's not Sunday! We did pass a McDonalds, Pizza Hut and Starbucks. The reach of American culture always amazes me.

But the best part of the day was swimming in the Aegean! Maddie and I decided to brave the wind and go for it. Best. Decision. Ever. At first we were kind of nervous about the waves and getting in too deep and it being really cold, but it was great! The water was actually really warm (at least compared to the wind outside). And even better, we didn't get attacked by fish. Fish scare me, almost as much as birds. I'm sure we annoyed people somewhat with our squeals of both hesitation and delight, but it was so much fun! It took forever to de-sandify, but it was worth it. Once again, Rhodes is beautiful, and I don't want to leave!
