I can see Turkey from my window!

Today we packed our suitcases and headed out to the airport to board a plane to Rhodes. An hour later we touched down at Diagoras airport on the island of Rhodes. It was pretty overcast and it rained a little bit when we got here but we boarded a bus drove to our hotel. We are staying in a five star hotel called the Mediterranean Hotel which is one of the two big hotels open on the entire island. Our room is very well furnished with two beds, several chairs, a tv, and a great balcony with an amazing view the ocean, which is literally across the street. Fun Fact: We can actually see the coast of Turkey from the balconys of our rooms.

And yes that faint outline in the back is the country Turkey.

We dropped off our stuff and then headed out to grab a bite to eat at the local Gate of Hunger which is basically a row of about 5 or 6 pizza and souvlaki joints with seating on the sidewalk. We then headed back to the hotel and did a little unpacking until our 4 course dinner at the Mediterranean which was pretty good. At some point during our dinner it started to rain and the thunderstorm that weather.com had predicted arrived. We saw a few lightning and heard a few thunder crashes while we enjoyed our ice cream desserts and listened to the live dj in the dining room as he serenaded the extremely fancy members of the Veterinary Conference that is being held here at the Mediterranean.

And so concludes our first day in Rhodes!

Stay tuned! More adventures to come
