Since getting to Rhodes, its been really relaxed for me. I spent some time just hanging out in the hotel. We have an incredible view from our room overlooking the ocean. I just sat on the balcony and read for a while, and listened to the sound of the waves and our Greek neighbors yelling at each other. I swear, the way people talk to each in Greek is so funny. You can never really tell how they're feeling because they're so animated. I wish I could understand Greek more, I feel like it would be a completely different experience knowing what people are saying around you.
Right now, I'm sitting in the lobby of the hotel we're staying at listening to a man singing and playing the piano. We had a four course dinner tonight that included tomato soup with bread, mousaka, fish, and ice cream. Most of the food I really liked, the mousaka had some eggplant in it which I'm not a huge fan of, but most of everything else was really good. The ice cream I got was green and pink colored, and I couldn't ever figure out what the green flavor was. They were both a little weird, but the people at my table really enjoyed trying them and figuring out what they tasted like.
Overall, the first few hours in Rhodes have been a success. We're getting free dinners and breakfasts at our hotel while we're here, which I'm really excited about. A lot of people have told me that Rhodes has delicious food, so I'm excited to eat more here and see the differences between the recipes here and the ones we've been eating in Athens. And the best part is the ocean! I'm planning on swimming tomorrow, it'll be great fun!
