As I was walking through the first cemetery of Athens today, I saw many plots for young children and young adults my age. It kept occurring to me that in these children's parents mind they most likely saw that their child was chosen to spend time with God as a Child of Light. No one truly knows if they are or not but we have to hold on to some hope in the light of such a terrible loss.

When I was in ninth grade i lost a good friend of mine, Kelly, in a car accident. No matter how hard i tried I could not bear the thought that my friend was taken from this world for no good reason. All I wanted was to believe that she was indeed a Child of light and was chilling with God in another place. Throughout my life I have endured many people I know and love dying and this is the one thing i hold dear.
To answer my question i feel as though no only really knows the right answer. Everyone wants to believe that their people are the truly righteous children of light but truly we can only hope. One thing that I do know for sure is that Kelly and all the lost lives of the children were seen as lights to others around them, reminding them that they should cherish the life they have because you never know when you, too, could be a Child of light along side them.
S'agapo,
Alex
