Children of Light

Today we visited one of the oldest cemeteries in Athens, and even it was stunning. Everything was made of marble with statues or pillars, all to honor the dead.

While I was walking through, looking at all the flowers left by the graves or pictures of the people that once had lived I was still unsure how I was going to tie everything in to match up with our blog topic “Children of Light.” At first all I could think of was 1 Thessalonians 5:5, “You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.” Even though in this context it’s describing having eternal life, I think it can relate to just having life as well. After seeing how many young children or even young adults have lost their lives for whatever reasons, I feel blessed to still be able to be living mine. I think it’s important to cherish the life that you have and be thankful when you wake up each morning.
