The Good Life

In reference to tonight's blog title, it's difficult not to repeat myself. I've already told the readers about the many wonderful aspects of Greece and being here, so what new angle do I take this from? What do I share with you to further convince you that this has been the best January Term I could ever ask for?

Let me paint you a picture. I am currently staying in a 5 star hotel in Rhodes, I can see the Mediterranean Sea from my balcony, and I'm walking distance from everything I could possibly want while I'm here. Breakfast and a 4 course dinner is provided for me during my stay, I can walk out of my hotel and onto the beach, and the weather is perfect. I literally spent the first 15 minutes of my day standing on my balcony in my pajamas, basking in the sunshine.

I cannot really do it justice with words. We've been many different places since we've been here but none have felt so right so quickly (although Corfu is a close second). That's not really it though. I may be attending class still and going on small days trips, have assigned reading, and a daily blog but I feel so pampered here in Rhodes. Don't get me wrong, the people in Athens were very nice to us. In Rhodes, though, they go that extra mile. Even outside of the hotel I feel as though everyone wants my stay to be the best it possibly can be.
It's little things like cars actually stopping to let you cross the street, people willing to take photos of you, and the hotel staff grinning at our attempts to speak Greek that really give Rhodes that extra something.
We're only here until Friday but I can't help but think this is the good life. It's no wonder the Athenians were jealous of our trip here.
Waking up at 9am every day, class, and then the island to ourselves. Almost too good to be true. Simple but perfect.
Much love from Rhodes,
Christine
