“You may say I am a dreamer, but I am not the only one.”
We all have dreams. We all have hopes and aspirations in life. Walking through diverse parts of Athens, I have seen different people’
s dreams run before my eyes. After strolling through the “ritzy “ part of town and seeing the well to do people wearing their leather jackets and sophisticated trench coats, I see that their dreams are different from the people trying to sell us umbrellas on the corner of the streets. In class we had discussed a lack of meaning in life. If we are all going to die one day, why should we even try to improve the world or our own life? But I can see the spark of hope in the people who are selling fruit with their children to improve not only their life but the next generation. The people who don’t have to rely on street revenue see the world in a different way, but they too have a vision. Day to day, dreams can change but they are always present. For this case, it doesn’t matter if I am an American or a Greek to have a dream. No matter where I am in the
world, there will be dreamers and I will carry my dream with me.
While in Greece, my vision is to soak up as much of the Greek life as possible. I have already seen so much and feel like this experience has enriched me as a person. I continue to keep my eyes wide open and experience everything possible. With seeing a new part of the world, I have enlarged my dreams and see that our unique dreams make us who we are.
