So today was an interesting day.
This morning we had class as usual from 10-30am until around 1pm, and then a couple of us had the experience of doing our laundry up at the College Year in Athens building. Next we headed to lunch at a cafe up the road after a nice walk around that part of the city looking for a place to eat. I had chicken breast in lemon sauce along with baked potatoes for lunch and it was pretty great. After lunch we went back to our apartments and changed into walking shoes before meeting with Professor Finitsis and all walking to the National Archaeological Museum.
One of my favorites |
I know that others in my class weren't as pleased about going to the museum as I was but I really enjoyed the museum even though we have been to quite a few already. I especially loved seeing the pottery. As an anthropology major I am particularly enjoying seeing all of the artifacts from this part of the world as it is something that I haven't studied so far in college. We all entered the museum and checked our bags and coats at the front before heading in. It started out perfectly fine as I made me way around the first couple of rooms taking pictures, without the flash of course, and reading all of the descriptions of the events that took place. I walked over to one of the panels that was showing a map of Ancient Greece and as I was backing up to let someone else look at the map as well I bumped into one of the giant vases in the museum.
I freaked out as immediately one of the museum curator people came over and started yelling at me and yanking my arm as she pulled me out of the room of that museum. I attempted to get the attention of Jill and by yelling to her across adjoining rooms that I had accidentally touched one of the pieces and that they were escorting me back to the front entry-way of the museum. I told them that it as completely on accident and that if you just got my professor he could explain everything. They ere furiously speaking Greek at me and I had no idea what was going on. Thankfully all that they did was kick me out of the museum for the time being and after sitting alone outside for a while the rest of my class finally came outside and I told them what had happened.
So that was my eventful day at the museum. I was definitely very anxious at the time but thank goodness that nothing else happened. I'm fine now and after a dinner of pasta and leftovers and hanging out I am better.

"If it is well told and to the point, that is what I myself desired; if it is poorly done and mediocre, that was the best I could do. For just as it is harmful to drink wine alone, or, again, to drink water alone, while wine mixed with water is sweet and delicious and enhances one's enjoyment, so also the style of the story delights the ears of those who read the work. And here will be the end." 2 Maccabees 15:38-39.
