Wine Mixed With Water

Motorcycles And Drivers In Greece Do Not Mix

Walking through Greece I cannot help but notice that there are an unusual amount of motorcycles driving around (at least compared to what I’ve seen in Washington). It is somewhat of a cliché but mothers are depicted as being against motorcycles for their children. They are considered dangerous because they have no protection around them if there is an accident and they always seem to be going faster than the cars driving around.

This stands true for the drivers in Greece. Everywhere I turn there seems to be a motorcycle driving at full speed weaving around traffic. The people driving the cars are pretty crazy drivers themselves. It is a constant flow of traffic of impatient drivers all trying to get somewhere.

With this combination someone is bound to get hurt.

Motorcycles and Greek drivers just do not mix.

When two things that do not mix are combined together there is consequence. This consequence became a reality for one of the motorcycle drivers in Greece.

He was lying on the side of the rode. The motorcycle was in bad shape. Pieces of it were strewn about. Splotches of blood littered the concrete. His injuries were far better than his bikes. He was lucky, it could have been much worse. Apparently our mothers were right all along. Motorcycles and driving do not mix.
