Hey there!

When I think of visions I think of the future. Visions of what city plans will be, or the political environment, or life in general. Today in class we spoke about visions in the more spiritual sense, talking about women who were seers and open vessels for Apollos wisdom to come through to the earthly world.
As we all know the economical environment in Greece isn't great right now and today I was thinking a lot about Greeks as well must be looking towards the future. We have noticed graffiti around the city and a lot of it seems politically related along with the many yellow stickers that we see that say for rent. Many of the small buildings and stores along the streets have signs on them saying closed or are just clearly empty, abandoned in this time of financial crisis. Being from a country that itself has a bad economy, we recognize the signs of difficulty in employment and having to make cuts.
We went to the Acropolis Museum for the good part of this afternoon and it was amazing to see of course. This prompted a lot of people to write their blogs about looking at visions of the past and really gathering an understanding of what it must have been like to live as a Greek in 500 B.C.E. I instead want to look at the present and at the future of Greece and the rest of the world. Despite the fact that the international vision of Greece is of riots and political upheaval, our experience here has been of a welcoming and friendly country. The people in Greece still seem to have a positive outlook on the situation and I think that it has been that way for hundreds if not thousands of years. So my vision today is that things will get better in Greece and that if they can create masterpieces like we have seen in the Acropolis Museum and all around the city with the ruins they can move past this time and continue on with their greatness.
