Visions

The past few days in class we’ve been talking about Apocalyptic Literature and some of the visions of Enoch and Daniel. Both claimed to have these visions from God about the future and end times, and both have made me wonder…how would I respond if someone tried to convince me that they had just received a vision from God? How would I feel if God wanted me to have a vision like these?

God certainly hasn’t done so yet, and I’m still not sure how I would react if I was in Daniel or Enoch’s position, I rarely even have dreams at night…

I think the closest I can relate is thinking back to how I had a vision in my head about what life in Greece would be like. Prior to this trip most everything I knew about Greek culture came from watching My Big Fat Greek Wedding, or eating a gyro at a local restaurant by my house. After realizing that I would be going to Greece for Jterm all I could envision were white houses, blue waters, and lots of olives since that was all I seemed to know.

Since being here Greece has been more than I could have ever imagined. Everything is incredible, from the architecture to the hospitality to the food. Today we got to see the Acropolis Museum that contained so many intricate marble carvings and artifacts. Afterwards we stopped for pasta and sandwiches at a local restaurant which even then was better than I had expected.

In the end although I had envisioned what life in Greece would be like, nothing can compare to what it's like to actually experience it yourself.
