The term “the good life” was originally associated with Aristotle, and according to Wikipedia is “a term for the life that one would like to live, or for happiness.” I have been in Rhodes for only a short time, only about three days, and if I were to live in Rhodes I would have accomplished the good life. This place is absolute beauty, and the people are like animation characters (full of laughter, jokes, and yet still somehow suave).
At the hotel we have a complimentary breakfast and dinner and already our largely noticeable American group has inside jokes with the waiters. Even with the small language barrier (they speak pretty good English) we always seem to be laughing at something our waiter does or says. One clip of the many comical moments is when the waiter brought over lemons asking who asked for lemons and everyone at the table replied that they had not. Come to find out he was just pulling our leg since they were a side to our dish. Shortly after while we were eating our dessert one of the waiters gives an apple to Lauren and says “an apple a day will keep the doctor away.” It seems like every night our waiters come up with these cleaver jokes that always leave as laughing. Who wouldn’t want to live in a place like this?
The landscape and beautiful water surrounding this island is another reason why life here is certainly the good life. Just outside out hotel balcony is the picturesque deep blue Mediterranean Sea. It is simply mesmerizing. Today we also got to visit the Acropolis of Rhodes and this was a site to behold. It is incredible that something so ancient could still be a part of today’s culture. We then went to another view of the water with Turkey on the right and the rest of Rhodes on the left. It was simply breathtaking. I could not help but marvel at what God had created. The sunset was a perfect way to end the scene. It lite up the sky in a magnificent gold.
My definition of the good life is a life spent it Rhodes. I could never get sick of the beautiful island and the charming people.
