Children of Light

Everyone seems to be talking about the cemetery today. It was a beautiful cemetery and I'm glad I got to see it but I think I'll take this blog in a different direction tonight.
I would like to talk about our attraction to the sun this trip. It feels magnetic. We want to be where the sun is. It's funny to me because it's not even that warm here, it's just much warmer than Tacoma (currently) is. It'll be 53 and sunny and suddenly everyone is ready for a trip to the beach!

I have so many sunset pictures! I've seen more sunsets during this trip than I usually would in a two week period. It's a testament to how long our days our. Sometimes we're up before the sun and then, before we've even boarded the bus, we watch it set. The sun seems to look different to me here somehow. I know it's the same but to me it's a Greek sun, bringing us the same sunshine it brought the ancient Greeks.

We are the Children of Light in our own way. We call ourselves by many different names, none of which are agreed upon by the entire group. I've heard "Explorers" and "Wanderers" a number of times. With every nickname a sense of pride comes with it. We are the PLU Greece trip. We are having fun and learning so much and we want to shout it to the world (in English and in Greek, if possible).
I have a feeling that even when we get home, all of us will feel so privileged and lucky to have been a part of the Greek experience. In a way, we are our own brand of Children of Light; we are a select group of human beings that worked hard to get here and grow closer and closer every day. Thank goodness we have two weeks left!

Notice the sun in the background! They look angelic, don't they? :)

We've gotten closer and closer and learned so much since we've been here. Always chasing the sun, opening our eyes to this new world around us, and (some of us) feeling a little closer to God every day. I know I am. I think that qualifies us as Children of Light. :)
