Child of Light

Today we visited the first cemetery of Athens. Today was a beautiful, sunny afternoon. I spent my time strolling through the rows of monuments and pausing in the little rays of sunshine to warm up. I also paused at many of the tombstones. Each one was unique in its own way. It seems like part of the culture to put a lot of thought in your own or in your loved one's resting space. Our topic for today's blog is "children of light" and I was a little stumped. So I spent a lot of my meandering with that in the back of my mind, hoping something would spark and idea. Luckily I found this Sphinx grave site. Right when I saw this it made me think about living in the moment. It is important to go through life being adventurous, curious, and open minded. If your focus is on the wrong things you could grow old and regret the things you didn't do or the things you don't have time to do now. For instance, I have this amazing opportunity to study abroad and I hope when I arrive back at SeaTac that I will not have a single regret. When someone poses an idea I try my hardest to go experience something new with them without being cautious. Usually with new people it takes me forever to open up, but I only have a month with these awesome people. I hope that I have opened my mind and expressed my thoughts, feelings, past and future goals, and all around personality as best I can. You could spend your whole life planning your gravestone or you can spend your life making sure people will remember you. Whether your gravestone is a sphinx or your gravestone is overgrown with vines, ultimately it matters how you lived, the impressions you left and where you will be after you die. If you are a child of light, you have faith in where you will be after death.
