Between Parkland and Pangrati: Difference and Similarities

Pangrati is the beautiful neighborhood our humble abode resides in. Im sure when all people think of Athens and think of all the differences between where they are and the beautiful city. I promise there are similarities though! For one, the weather is pretty close to what we are used to in Washington state. It feels a lot like October or November. Each day the high has been at the most 55 degrees and the lows at night flirt around freezing. Also, like Washington, every home/apartment has heaters, and everyone uses it. The rain is usually scattered showers instead of a whole day of record breaking pouring rain. I enjoy that difference. Another similarity is that the city has dominos, starbucks, and pizza hut. Im sure there are other American franchises but i have yet to discover them. I guess I could also make the argument that the amount of coffee shops is similar to parkland because there are so many, they just aren't starbucks. I love all the little cafes because I'm a huge fan (even addict) of coffee. One big difference that I have even been keeping track of is the fact that there isn't a gas station at the corner of every street. There isn't even one on the corner of every other street. In America we treasure convenience rather than efficiency. Instead of using as much space as possible for homes or shops we slap a gas station there and call it good. I have seen 6 gas stations since we've been here. So I'm assuming that everyone just knows where the gas stations are and uses them like we would a certain store like Walmart. I love that they use there space wisely. They fit as many apartments or shops as they can even if that means the ally way can only be 3 feet wide. I feel like this ensures more people shelter and more people jobs. Another difference is that they are in recession and I can't really tell like in America. All the people are still so positive! I hope their positivity can teach me how to always stay positive!
