Bad Romance

Finitsis told us before the trip started that we should expect the unexpected. There's no way to anticipate everything that's going to happen when you're in a completely different country for a month. I've started to learn this, but its taken a while for me to completely understand this concept and actually be ok with it.

During our time in Greece, it feels like almost everything is a surprise. We've been climbing a lot of mountains (see my previous blog post), seeing tons of ancient ruins, and went swimming in the Mediterranean. On Monday, we have a possibility of snow. Right now I'm sitting in my hotel room watching MTV in Greek.

This experience has been both good and not so good. I have enjoyed seeing the sights and walking around the cities. I am absolutely in love with the churches we have stopped at throughout our time here. The food has been completely delicious. On the downside, I've had several medical problems throughout the trip. Its been hard to live out of a suitcase, and its been really hard to be so far away from family. I've actually booked two trips for the two weeks after we get home, one to my home in Texas and one to visit my boyfriend in Colorado. Its just been really hard to be away from everyone.

My favorite part of the trip was actually the soccer game we went to last Wednesday (a week and a half ago). It was so amazing. We sat next to a group of men who were singing and shouting the whole time. When the home team finally scored in the last 2 minutes of the game, to win 1-0, the group of men screaming started to light flares and threw their water bottles all over the place. It was super fun. I would love to come back someday and go to more games.

That's all for now. I guess I have a "bad romance" with Greece :)
